CMU Announces New Four-Year Contract for Dan Enos

By TheChipReport.com

MOUNT PLEASANT – Central Michigan University Athletics Director Dave Heeke announced on Thursday a new four-year contract for head football coach Dan Enos. The deal supersedes his previous contract while extending Enos an additional season, through December 2016.

“This agreement recognizes the success Dan and his staff had on the field and in the classroom this year,” said Heeke. “I have high expectations for our program and appreciate the resolve Dan has shown in building this program. His vision, dedication for excellence, and commitment to doing things the right way have helped this team to be positioned for continued success.”

Enos’ new contract includes an increase in base salary and enhancements to a list of potential performance bonuses.

“I am very excited about the next chapter of CMU football,” said Enos. “Leading this team and maintaining the great traditions and legacy of Chippewa football is a great responsibility and privilege. I’m honored to have the opportunity to work with such an excellent group of young men and to strive together for continued success in the classroom and on the football field.”

In 2012, his third season at Central Michigan, Enos led the Chippewas to seven victories and the program’s fifth bowl appearance in the last seven years. CMU finished the season strong, winning five of its last six games, including four against MAC opponents and a thrilling victory over Western Kentucky in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.

Five Chippewas earned All-MAC honors in 2012 – offensive lineman Eric Fisher (first team), running back Zurlon Tipton (second team), safety Jahleel Addae (second team), receiver Titus Davis (second team), and receiver Cody Wilson (third team) – upping the total number of all-conference honors earned by his players to 19 during Enos’ three-year tenure. Fisher also received All-America recognition and is poised to become CMU’s highest NFL draft selection while Wilson earned Academic All-America honors for the second consecutive season.

When is the last time Western won a bowl game???

    Good question, Pete!

Dan Enos may not be the best coach to ever lead the Maroon and Gold but has won more bowl games than all coaches in WMU school history, combined.

That’s right, you guessed it! Western Michigan has NEVER won a bowl game (0-5). In addition, the Broncos have just 1 MAC title in school history. The Chippewas on the other hand are 3-4 in bowl games and have won 7 MAC titles.

    Ouch…

Wow, might be jumping the gun.

I agree, 84. It seems like the program is trying to make the most out of a bit of positive momentum. Hopefully that works out. I wonder what the buyouts are.
